This Too Shall Pass…
Once Akbar asked Veerbal to write a sentence which if read in happiness, brings feeling of sadness and if read in happiness bring feeling of sadness, Veerbal wrote “This too shall pass”.
The prevailing circumstances due to the pandemic outbreak (Covid-19) has created a critical condition not only for those who are infected or dying but also for almost everyone. A report says, till 15 May 2020, nearly 300 million people would be in jobless situation due to indefinite lock down only in India.
Looming Depression Outbreak
“There are wounds that never show on body, that are deeper and more hurtfull than anything that bleeds”
Yes, the next outbreak may be of stress and depression, because people are shit scared due to uncertainty. Apart from those who are infected and clinically ill, ponder about the physical and mental health of those who have lost their source of income, those who are depend on them, those who are around the infected person and those who are suspected and has been quarantined.
Infact, stress is a body reaction to any change in its internal and external environment. Whenever any external change occurs it leads to stress, depressed mood and lack of interest, unless we make a certain change in our way of looking at the things. Such signs appear in the attitude and behavior of the individual :-
- Muscle tension in various parts of the body
- Palpitations and high blood pressure
- Indigestion and hyperacidity
- Self destructive behavior
- Eating and drinking too much
- Smoking excessively
- Relying on tranquillisers.
There are some other signs of extreme stress and fear :-
- Nervous blinking
- Dryness of throat and mouth and
- Difficulty in swallowing
Heart disease and depression -both stress disease – are going to rank first and second in 2020. Road accidents are going to be the third largest killer. These accidents are also an indicator of psycho-social stress disease like ulcers, hypertension and sleepness have assumed epidemic proportion in modern society.
When stress crosses limit to an individual, It loweres his performance capacity, chronic fatigue and not motivated to achieve anything. This makes the person mentally undecided, confused and accident prone as well.
In such a critical circumstances, when being stressful is an only option, should we not try to find some stress busters? Of course Yes. The matter of the fact that our mind always remain either in past memories or in future imagination. We tend to imagine worst and then stress is consequence. We should understand the power of now, the situations are never so worse that we could not bounce back. Change your thought pattern, take some risk, go for music and dance. Try to keep yourself safe, do as far as possible, but you need not to have stress. Meditation is the biggest stress buster, really I mean it.
Remember one thing… This too shall pass
