Learnings from Corona Catastrophe

Learnings from Corona Catastrophe

Life on Earth is at the ever-increasing risk of being wiped out by a disaster, such as sudden global nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus or other dangers we have not yet thought of  – Stephen Hawkin

Coranavirus has become one of the greatest catastrophe of the ‘History’. So far there is no visible light across the tunnel. No-one knows how many more life still it is going to claim, At what extent we have to face Economic loss. The peak of human suffering in such trial likely yet to be witnessed. It is going to be stigmatized one of the darkest period in the future in terms of human suffering, death toll and economic impoverishment. Yet Bhagwat Geeta says “Whatever happens, happens for the best.” Should we go with this? There is always dark and bright aspects, Pros and cons, merits and demerits, advantage and disadvantage in almost everything.

Earth is healing

Let’s throw some light on the bright aspect of this catastrophic situation. A report says, the air quality has improved dramatically in major cities of the World. About 40%-50% drop in Nitrogen Dioxide and Sulpher Dioxide level during Lock down. The crystal clean water is being observed in major rivers of the country. People are enjoying ecstasy of sunrise and sunset from their own balcony and terrace particularly in metro cities, which is first ever experience for most of them. The crime rate has fallen significantly .

Decline in casualties

Moreover, the number of accidental death reduced dramatically, the cases of drunken driving are no more as alcohol is not accessible. Even domestic violence due to alcohol has taken another form of love and care. Further, the shocking data from the major health care center that, considerable drop in the cases of heart diseases and cholesterol issues due to consumption of hygienic and home made eatables.

May God this pandemic leave us soon in healthy way! But we should not downplay these achievements. When major international environment convention and heavy budget could not work out the solution. When so called superpowers play just blame games over carbon emissions, then few days lock down has give the way out. Aren’t we moving towards sustainable development and millennium development goals?

Global leadership should rethink over the these ‘eternal’ issues. If we stand together, we can achieve a lot.
